Dr. Harcharan Lal Sharma a distinguished academic with an M.Ed. and Ph.D., is a highly accomplished Curriculum Specialist based in New Delhi and a UNESCO Fellow. He possesses over four decades of extensive experience in the field of education, including 33 years of service at the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) and six years at the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS). His leadership extended to key positions such as General Secretary of the All India Science Teachers Association, Chairman of Kendriya Vidyalaya, Janakpuri, Director of the Jagdamba Group of Schools, and as Visiting Professor at Lal Bahadur Shastri National Sanskrit University, New Delhi, Dr. Sharma's global contributions include representing India as a delegate to the UNESCO Meet on Alternative Education in the Philippines, and as Visiting Professor at Brijport University, USA. He is contributing as Chief Advisor to Surya Foundation’s School Bharti Organization for last 2 decades, leading its initiative to reduce the weight of bags by creating NEP 2020 compliant, All-in-One Surya Bharti books.
Brigadier R K Gupta, VSM (Retd), is a distinguished veteran with an illustrious 36-year career in the Indian Army. Commissioned in 1971, he rendered exemplary service during the 1971 war, contributing significantly to India’s military success. His assignments included critical operations in Jammu & Kashmir and the North East, where his strategic acumen and leadership were instrumental in achieving operational objectives. For his exceptional dedication and contributions, he was honored with the prestigious Vishisht Seva Medal (VSM).
Since retiring from active service, Brigadier Gupta has continued his commitment to nation-building through his association in Think Tank initiative of Surya Foundation since 2008. His post-retirement endeavors focus on ensuring successful conduct of Think Tanks on various issues of National Interest, reflecting his lifelong dedication to service and development.
Brigadier Ashok Sondhi (Retd) is a veteran leader with an exemplary military career spanning 36 years of dedicated service to the nation. A decorated officer, he played an active role in the historic 1971 Bangladesh Liberation War, and held pivotal operational positions at the Brigade, Divisional, and Army Command levels, demonstrating exceptional courage and strategic acumen. His career includes prestigious instructional roles at India’s premier military academies, where he shaped the future leaders of the armed forces with his expertise and mentorship.
Post-retirement, Brig. Sondhi continues to contribute meaningfully to national development as through his association with the Think Tank initiative of Surya Foundation. In this role, he helps analyze various events of national and global importance, and organize Think Tanks on relevant issues of National Interest.
Sh. Govind Ram Agarwal JI is a highly respected educationist with an illustrious career dedicated to advancing the field of education. As a Retired Principal of MCL/SBM in Delhi, he has played a pivotal role in shaping the academic and moral foundations of countless students. His leadership extended beyond the school premises as he took on the role of Director at MDH Schools and Samarth Siksha Samiti, organizations renowned for their commitment to quality education and cultural values.
In addition to his direct contributions to educational institutions, Sh. Agarwal has also been a member of the Education Committee, North MCD, where he worked to influence and enhance educational policies at the municipal level. His deep understanding of educational systems and his strategic insights have made a lasting impact on curriculum development of Surya Bharti books, and helped develop new initiatives for School Bharti Organization.
Sh. Rahul 'Neel' is a multifaceted scholar and creative force, blending his expertise as a poet, historian, and researcher with a passion for social impact and cultural preservation. Holding a Master’s degree in Hindi Literature, he has dedicated over 15 years to social work and youth development, inspiring and empowering communities through his initiatives. His efforts include curating the acclaimed “Unexplored India” photography exhibitions, which celebrate the rich, lesser-known facets of India’s heritage. As a research scholar in Hindi Literature at Bhagwant University, a fellowship recipient from the Ministry of Culture (India), and recipient of prestigious Jagdish Mittal Kavya Pratibha Samman, Sh. Rahul 'Neel' is contributing meaningfully to academic and cultural discourse.
Rahul contributes as Advisor for the Media and Communication wing of Surya Foundation, helping expand our outreach to all corners of the country, through his creative insights, vast experience in media, and deep understanding of social sector.
Nishant Aggarwal has more than 25 years of rich experience in leading and working with diverse teams across geographies including USA, China, Nepal, in the IT and Social Sector domain. He earlier served as the Executive Director of Sewa International for 7 years, working on disaster management, poverty alleviation, skilling, livelihoods, women empowerment and healthcare for the underprivileged in remote hilly, rural and tribal areas of India, impacting more than a million beneficiaries.
Presently, he is Executive Advisor to Surya Foundation for the strategy, planning and execution of Sustainable Livelihoods projects. He is also serves as the Director at the Donyi Polo Cultural & Charitable Trust, a non-profit trust based in Arunachal Pradesh, dedicated to ensuring the preservation, and practice of the Indigenous Cultures, Language, and Traditions.
He holds a Post Graduate in Development Leadership from Azim Premji University, and B.E. in Electronics & Communications from Delhi College of Engineering (now DTU).
