Think Tank

Surya Foundation, besides other activities, has set up a number of Think Tanks. These comprise domain experts who study issues of vital national Interest, brainstorm and formulate appropriate recommendations, which are made available to Govt Departments, PSUs, Members of Parliament and other stakeholders Recommendations of the Think Tanks are widely acknowledged and many have been implemented.

Surya Foundation conducts Think Tanks on a number of subjects namely:

AGRICULTURE

Agriculture think tank discusses issues such as augmentation of farmer’s income, growth in agriculture, green revolution etc. The members comprise experts in Agriculture, bureaucrats, Research scholars and Farmers.

DEFENCE

Our Defence Think Tank consists of high ranking officers from Army, Navy, Air Force and Intelligence with vast experience in their respective domains. Vital issues concerning National Security, preparedness and modernisation of Armed Forces to deal with the emerging geopolitical situations are deliberated upon.

ECONOMY

Surya economy Think Tank consisting of eminent economists and experts who discuss issues related to India’s economic development, budget, taxation and so on.

EDUCATION

Education Think Tank was Constituted in the year 1997-98 by Surya Foundation. In the area of school education, Surya Foundation. Since its inception the Foundation is working to help Nation to solve problems being faced, such as, to reduce the load of school bag- both physical as well as mental and to make quality education less costly, to prepare children to face global challenges and to inculcate life skills and patriotism. Towards this goal Surya Foundation has developed an integrated curriculum. The Foundation studied the various recommended made by commissions – Mudaliar, Kothari new Education Policy–1986 committees such as Acharya Ram Murty (1989-90), Yashpal Committee (1992) and National Curriculum Framework (NCF)-2000. The integrated curriculum envisages the competencies proposed at national level (National Curriculum frame work 2000 and also NCF 2005 in each subject such as Hindi, Mathematics, Environmental Studies (Social Science – Natural Science), Art, Health & Hygiene, Yog, Sports. On the basis of the Integrated Curriculum Surya foundation has developed, published and experimented the concept of One Class – One book. One Class – One Book with the help of a group nationally ………………………. for education these books are Surya Bharti Pratham, Dutiya, Tritiya, Chaturth & Pancham for class 1 to 5 respectively.

ENERGY

Surya Foundation Think Tank consisting of eminent experts on Energy related subjects considered issues pertaining to Energy Security Challenges in Power, Renewable Energy, Coal, Oil and Gas sectors.

GOVERNANCE

Surya Foundation Think Tank on Governance, comprising eminent experts on the subject, reviewed issues impinging on the performance of the IAS and arrived at some Key recommendations for enhancing its performance.

EXTERNAL AFFAIRS

Surya International affairs think tank carries out the study of international relations and foreign affairs. The experts group comprises of distinguished diplomats, research fellows, defence officers and security analysts.

JUDICIAL REFORMS

Surya think tank on legal reforms comprising of legal luminaries and judges discuss the ways and means of delivery of speedy justice and reforms in our legal system.

Power think tank discusses issues related to power sector. It consists of experts from hydel, wind and nuclear energy field. They also brainstorms issues of alternative means of power generation.

RURAL DEVLOPMENT

The Water think tank contributes its research studies towards the security and management of water such as Interlinking of rivers interstate disputes, storage of water and ground water depletion.
