Presently, Bharat is a nation of the young, with over 60 percent of its population below 35 years of age, young men and women, brimming with energy. Channelising their potential and youthful energy towards nation building can take Bharat to the pinnacles of development. Accordingly, Surya Foundation has undertaken numerous initiatives to prepare our youth for the onerous responsibilities they will be called upon to shoulder in times to come, by providing them opportunities for character building, developing their leadership qualities and patriotism through Personality Development Camps, Scholarship schemes, Youth clubs and Sports Tournaments.

Surya Scholarship Scheme (SSS)
Cognisant of the fact talent exists across all sections of society, as much in those at the lowest rung of society, Surya Foundation has designed the Surya Scholarship Scheme (SSS). The scheme seeks to provide talented youth with an opportunity to realise their talent. Eligible candidates from across the nation are given the chance to attend a Personality Development Camp and a conducted tour of Delhi, completely free of charge. Following the camp, selected participants are awarded scholarships up to Rs18,000/- annually. Numerous students have benefitted from this scheme in the past and currently 57 students from 13 states across the country are benefiting from the Surya scheme.

Personality Development Camps (PDCs)
Fully residential, the PDCs put the young men and women, attending these, through activities designed to foster growth and development. Each day is filled with a blend of yoga, prayer, meditation, physical training and drill, complemented by classes in arts, dance, karate, music etc. Inspirational movies, sports, cultural events and sessions to imbibe life skills are an integral part of the training imparted. The camps are not just about self-improvement; they also focus on building leadership, teamwork, goal setting, self-confidence, social skills and a sense of patriotism.

Participants who perform well in the PDCs may be selected for the Long Personality Development Camp (LPDC). In LPDCs, chosen individuals nationwide undergo an intensive 15-day training program. Candidates who complete the LPDC successfully are offered the option of attending the Advanced Training Camp (ATC) where campers are put through rigorous training to become instructors for PDCs. A vast majority opt to attend the ATC. Surya Foundation, till date has successfully conducted over 600 PDCs, with participation by over 200,000 girls and boys.

Mini Personality Development Camps (MPDC)
The Foundation organizes non-residential Mini Personality Development Camps (MPDCs) annually, in selected villages. These camps cater to students from 1st to 8th grade, exposing them to yoga, meditation, folk tales and Indian culture. The camps are a platform for students to showcase their talent. Participants are encouraged to explore and excel in extracurricular activities such as singing, dancing, rangoli, dramatics, and public speaking. In 2023 alone, the Foundation conducted MPDCs for 10,238 students, both girls and boys, across more than 245 villages.

Surya Youth Clubs
The Surya Youth Clubs serve as a vibrant platform, where the youth gather to discuss threadbare issues related to development of their villages. Members take up the chaiienge of finding solutions for problems afflicting their villages such as substance abuse, discrimination, and disharmony. Beyond fostering social development, the clubs focus on the physical well-being of its members, regularly organizing games, physical activities and competitions. Over 2,800 youth are members of the 183 Surya Youth Clubs across the country.
